Evernote Free Plan Test

Evernote Free Pricing Plans Test

Evernote's new company owners Bending Spoons have laid off more staff at an acquired company Filmic and now potential plans to limit your notes.

Evernote might be testing a free plan with a limit to 1 notebook and 50 free notes.

This is something TechCrunch reported on and the conversation hasn't been fully cleared up. According to an Evernote forum, this might have been first stated in early November as a test from the Bending Spoon team to push more people to the paid plan.

This was further backed up with the TechCrunch reporting that this pop up came up and prompted them to pay for unlimited notes and notebooks in Evernote. An interesting path for Evernote as they open up to being more of a premium experience and working out how to convert customers into paying customers.

Limits are Common

Evernote wouldn't be the notes app to introduce limits. Many other apps actually do this, an example is an app like Supernotes who do this and have done since day one, but Evernote has always had 100,000 notes for free and this would likely be for new users.

More Layoffs at Bending Spoons

In a move strikingly reminiscent of Evernote's past restructuring, Filmic has recently faced a significant workforce reduction by its parent company, Bending Spoons.

This decision mirrors a similar scenario with Evernote, which previously underwent substantial layoffs under similar circumstances. Both instances reflect a growing trend in the tech world where companies, in pursuit of efficiency and a leaner operational model, opt for restructuring that often results in job losses.

Filmic, much like Evernote during its tumultuous period, has been at the forefront of its niche, known for its high-quality video editing software. This layoff raises questions about the future direction of Filmic under Bending Spoons' ownership.
